In addition to rescue and adoption, GRR is proud to sponsor a therapy dog program. Sugar, a Labrador Retriever, with her handler Nina Henderson, recently received accreditation with Therapy Dog International, TDI, and is currently working in two schools in Newton County with Pre-K and Special Education students. Sugar’s presence as a therapy dog has become immeasurable for the successes of the students who work with her daily. 

GRR also proudly sponsors Carter, an Australian Shepherd.  Carter is also already working with the children in the school system and will be soon be tested to earn his official Therapy Dog accreditation.  Both Carter and Sugar were dogs rescued directly from Animal Controls in Georgia.  Their natural loving and calm natures make them ideal for therapy work.
